Unterseen is a commune and historic Swiss city of the canton of Bern, located in the administrative district of Interlaken-Oberhasli. It limits to the north with the commune of Habkern, to the east with Ringgenberg and Interlaken, to the south with again with Interlaken and Därligen, and to the west with Leissigen and Beatenberg.
The commune is located at the eastern end of Lake Thun. Until December 31, 2009 located in the Interlaken district.

Interlaken is a Swiss commune in the canton of Bern, capital of the administrative district of Interlaken-Oberhasli. It borders to the north with the commune of Ringgenberg, to the east with Bönigen, to the south with Därligen and Matten bei Interlaken, and to the west with Unterseen.

The Administrative District of Interlaken-Oberhasli (in German Verwaltungskreis Interlaken-Oberhasli) is one of the ten new administrative districts of the canton of Bern. It has an area of 1232 km². The capital of the district is Interlaken.
Formed in 2010 from the merger of the Interlaken district and the district of Oberhasli, it is part of the administrative region of the Oberland.
