St. Moritz or Sankt Moritz (in German Sankt Moritz, in French Saint-Moritz, in romanche San Murezzan, in Italian San Maurizio, Spanish translation: San Mauricio) is a Swiss commune in the canton of Grisons, located in the district of Maloja, circle of Upper Engadine in the Engadine Valley. It has a population of 5,029 inhabitants.
Due to its nearby ski centers, it is an important tourist place. It hosted the 1928 Winter Olympic Games, the 1948 Winter Olympic Games and the 2003 and 2017 Alpine Skiing World Championships. It also hosted the 1995 World Polo Championship, where the local team reached the last place. It is a popular holiday destination among the upper class and the international jet set, as well as one of the most expensive ski resorts in the world.
