Shenzhen (ʂə́n.ʈʂə̂n / Shén-Zhen in traditional Chinese, 深圳 市; pinyin, Shēnzhèn) is a city-subprovince of 12 million inhabitants located in the Pearl River Delta, on the southern coast of the Canton province, in the People's Republic of China.
The name of the city has its origin in the denomination that the inhabitants of the area gave to the ditches of the rice fields that they called zhen or chon. Shenzhen means "deep ditches", because the area in which the city sits is a region crossed by rivers and in which there are deep ditches in the rice fields.
Today it is considered the "Silicon Valley" of China .

The Ping An Finance Center (平安 國際 金融 中心) is a 115-story, 599-meter-high skyscraper located in Shenzhen, Guangdong Province, China. The tower was commissioned by the company of Ping An Insurance insurance, and designed by the American architect firm Kohn Pedersen Fox. Construction was completed in March 2017. It is currently the fourth tallest building in the world, as well as the second tallest building in China. The financial center complex will have another skyscraper 293 meters high and 51 floors, which will house a hotel and offices.

Shenzhen Special Zone Press Tower is a 262 meter (860 ft) tall skyscraper located in Futian District, Shenzhen, China. The tower was completed in 1998 and has 47 plants on the ground and 3 underground floors.
The building is the 69th tallest building in the world measuring the height of architectural detail, and the fifth tallest in Shenzhen.
The roof is 187 meters high, and the main roof 167 meters above the curved glass curtain.

Excellence Century Plaza is a mixed-use building complex located in Shenzhen, Canton, China. It consists of four towers and a commercial podium. Tower 1 has 280 meters and 61 floors; Tower 2, 250 meters and 57 floors; Tower 3, 185 meters and 45 floors; and Tower 4, 156 meters and 37 floors. Towers 1 and 3 contain offices, and tower 4 a hotel. Tower 2 houses offices and a hotel.
The complex was designed by Leo A Daly, an American architecture firm that won the design competition, in collaboration with China Construction Design International. The two main towers have a quadrangular shape with large zigzags on their facades. The edges of these zigzags are illuminated at night in different colors.
