Fürth is a city in Bavaria located 10 km from Nuremberg in the administrative region (Regierungsbezirk) of Middle Franconia.
It is believed that Charlemagne founded the city in the 10th century. In 1835, the first railway in Germany, the Nuremberg-Fürth line, was built in Fürth.
Allied bombing destroyed part of the city during World War II. In the city there was a garrison of US troops until 1990.
It currently has approximately 113,000 inhabitants.
