Glücksburg
Glücksburg (in Danish, Lyksborg) is a small town in the district of Schleswig-Flensburg, in Schleswig-Holstein, Germany. It is located in the southern part of the Flensburg Fjord, a penetration of the Baltic Sea on the mainland, approximately 10 km northwest of Flensburg.
The population was originally the origin of the Schleswig-Holstein-Sonderburg-Glücksburg family (or simply Glücksburg), since 1863 the royal family of Denmark and since 1905 of Norway. A branch of the family was formerly the royal family of Greece, which includes Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh, and therefore also includes the heir lineage of the monarchy of the United Kingdom and the domains of the Commonwealth of Nations.
Glücksburg is home to a German Navy base (Deutsche Marine).

newGlücksburg Palace
The Glücksburg Palace (in German, Schloss Glücksburg, in Danish, Lyksborg Slot) is a palace (Schloss) in the town of Glücksburg, Germany. It is one of the most important Renaissance castles in Northern Europe. It is the headquarters of the House of Schleswig-Holstein-Sonderburg-Glücksburg and was also used by Danish kings. Located in the Flensburg Fjord, the palace is now a museum owned by a foundation and is not inhabited by the ducal family. The foundation council is chaired by Christoph, Prince of Schleswig-Holstein, the current titular duke and head of the House of Glücksburg and the House of Oldenburg.
The palace was built from 1582 to 1587 by Nikolaus Karie for Duke John II of Schleswig-Holstein-Sonderburg (1545-1622) on the site of an old monastery, which was used in part as construction material. Next, the monastery grounds were flooded to create a large pond that completely surrounds the palace.
