Karlsruhe
Karlsruhe ([ˈkaɐ̯lsˌʁuːə]; means "Rest of Charles") is the second largest city of Baden-Württemberg in southwestern Germany, near (15 km) from the border with France.
Karlsruhe was founded in 1715 as a baroque city and was the capital of the Grand Duchy of Baden. Due to the urban plan under which it was founded, its streets radiate the entire city. For this reason it is known as Fächerstadt ("Fan City"). Karlsruhe is the capital and city of residence of the former state of Baden.
Karlsruhe is also today the capital of the Karlsruhe Rural District, although it is not part of it.
Since 1950, the German Federal Constitutional Court (Bundesverfassungsgericht) and the Federal Court (Bundesgerichtshof) have their headquarters in Karlsruhe, so the city is called the seat of justice.

German Constitutional Court
The German Federal Constitutional Court (in German: Bundesverfassungsgericht, abbreviated BVG or BVerfG) is the constitutional body responsible for the constitutionality control of laws in the Federal Republic of Germany. It is headquartered in the city of Karlsruhe. It is made up of two senates, each of which has eight members, of which four are elected by a Bundestag committee and another four by the Bundesrat, always with a two-thirds majority. This high quorum requires agreements or commitments of the political majority with the opposition, which is intended to guarantee the political independence and impartiality of the judges. Generally, the chosen personalities do not belong to any political party.
The Federal Constitutional Court can be appealed by the other constitutional bodies, but also by individuals if they consider that the legislative, administrative or judicial activity of a state body damages their fundamental rights.
Currently, the president of this body is Judge Andreas Voßkuhle.

newKarlsruhe National Art Gallery
The Karlsruhe National Art Gallery (in German Staatliche Kunsthalle) is a museum of Fine Arts, one of the oldest in Germany, which houses a collection covering seven centuries of painting history, particularly German, French and Dutch. It was founded by Grand Duke Leopold of Baden to host the art collection of the royal house of Baden known as the Carolina Luisa Painting Cabinet of Hessen-Darmstadt. The building, the work of the architect Heinrich Hübsch, opened its doors in 1846 after ten years of work, after deciding Leopoldo de Baden to erect a new building for the Academy that since 1811 hosted the art collection and being Carl Ludwig Frommel director of the Collection since 1830. The permanent exhibition in the main building consists of about 800 paintings and sculptures, while the adjacent orangerie (greenhouse) houses, since 1890, the exhibition of contemporary art. In 1973 the children's museum was created, one of the first initiatives of its kind in Germany.
