Marine-Ehrenmal Laboe

The Laboe Naval Monument is a monument in Laboe, near Kiel in Schleswig-Holstein, Germany.
Completed in 1936, the monument was originally erected in memory of the fallen German Imperial Fleet during World War I.
Since the end of World War II, however, it commemorates sailors of all nationalities who died during both world wars.
The monument consists of an 85 meter tower similar to a Viking ship at its top or to the top tower of a submarine. It has inside a memorial hall and an observation post.
The monument also has at its feet a German submarine of World War II, the U-995, being a very tourist place. The U-995 is the only submarine of the type U-boat VII C / 42 that remains in the world.

It also houses one of the propellers of the heavy cruiser Prinz eugen, the propeller was saved and is exhibited in the Laboe naval memorial monument
