Munich
Munich (AFI: ['mu.nitʃ], also [ˈmu.nik]; in German, München, [ˈmʏnçən]; in Austro-Bavarian: Minga [ˈmɪŋ (ː) ɐ]) is the capital, the largest and the most important city of the federated state of Bavaria and, after Berlin and Hamburg, the third city in Germany by number of inhabitants. It is located on the Isar River, north of the Bavarian Alps.
The motto of the city is München mag Dich (Munich likes you). Before 2006 it was Weltstadt mit Herz (cosmopolitan city with a heart). Its name, München, derives from Munichen, from the old high German, which means "in the place of the monks." The name of the city comes from the Benedictine monks who founded the city; hence, there is a monk in the shield of the city. The official colors of the city are black and gold, colors of the Holy Roman Empire, since the time of Louis IV of Bavaria.
The metropolitan area of Munich includes some neighboring towns in this city. According to a 2009 study, Munich is the city with the best quality of life in Germany.
Modern Munich is a financial and editorial center. In terms of social and economic innovation, the city is in 15th place among 289 cities according to a 2010 study, and is the fifth German city for the 2thinknow Innovation Cities Index based on an analysis of 162 indicators.
The city's exonym in Spanish, which has the peculiarity of having a final "ch", something foreign to the Spanish phonological system, is born from the exonyms in French and English. Therefore, the pronunciation of the exonym is, etymologically, [ˈmunik], through the pronunciation of the exonym in English, or ['munitʃ], following the usual pronunciation rules of Spanish. The gentilicio is "muniqués" and its plural, "muniqueses". The Pan-Hispanic Dictionary of Doubts discourages pronunciation with diphthong [ˈmiunik], typical of English. Munich hosted the 1972 Olympic Games.

Hofgarten
The Hofgarten is a park located inside the German city of Munich.
It was built between 1613 and 1617 by Maximilian I of Bavaria imitating the Italian Renaissance style. In the center of the park is the pavilion dedicated to the goddess Diana built in 1615 by Heinrich Schön. On the roof of the pavilion is a replica of the Hubert Gerhard sculpture known as Bavaria, created in 1623.
The park was destroyed during World War II and was partially redesigned as an English-style garden. Today the park is open to the public and is a common meeting place for the inhabitants of Munich where you can enjoy many street artists.
The garden is cited in the poem by T. S. Elliot The wasteland.

The Feldherrnhalle (Temple of the Generals, sometimes also Feldherrenhalle, translated as Hall of the Marshal) is a lodge located in Munich, Bavaria, Germany.
It was built between 1841 and 1844 at the southern tip of Munich, next to the Ludwigstrasse, the Preysing Palace and east of the Hofgarten.
Friedrich von Gärtner built the Feldherrnhalle at the request of King Louis I of Bavaria, taking as a model the famous Loggia della Signoria, also called Loggia dei Lanzi, located in the Piazza della Signoria in Florence.
The Feldherrnhalle was erected in honor of the Bavarian Army.
It contains statues of military leaders such as the Count of Tilly and Johann Karl Phillip von Wrede.
The central sculptural group was added in 1882, after the Franco-Prussian War.

Palais Holnstein
The Holnstein Palace in Munich (later known as Königsfeld Palace) has been the residence of the archbishops of the Archdiocese of Munich and Friesland since 1818. It is known as Archbishop's Palace, and is located north of the old city of Munich (Altstadt), on Cardinal Faulhaber street number 7 (Kardinal-Faulhaber-Straße 7).
The architect Francisco de Cuvilliés built the mansion between 1733 and 1737 for the residence of Sofia Carolina de Ingenheim, countess of Holnstein, a lover of Prince-elector Carlos Alberto de Baviera, later emperor of the Holy Empire, and for the son of both, Francisco Luis, first Earl of Holnstein.
To build the Palace, the three existing houses on the site had to be demolished. A four-wing urban palace with an inner courtyard was designed: the front wing, with the main facade, was used for representation purposes, while the lateral and the rear wing, arranged around the inner courtyard, served for private use.
The facade is based on the design of the architect and landscape architect José Effner, according to a usual pattern, with three floors and nine vertical axes for the holes in the facade. The nine axes of windows are organized into three bodies practically equal in size, the outstanding central (the typical baroque avant corps) with gable on the top. Each of the three bodies corresponds to the internal division between the main wing and the lateral wings. On the ground floor there are oculos on the windows and on the upper floors the windows are separated by pilasters integrated from the first to the second floor.
The stucco of the facade and the interior decoration are probably the work of Juan Bautista Zimmermann.
It has turned out to be the best example in Munich of a rococo art palace, the only aristocratic palace in Munich with the original layout of the rooms. The Rococo style facade and many interior spaces are kept in their original state and, since the palace has been closed for public visits, only the magnificent and elegant facade can be seen.
From 1977 to 1982 the Holnstein Palace served as residence to the archbishop-cardinal Joseph Ratzinger (later, elected Pope by the name of Benedict XVI), who stayed there during his last visit to the diocese in September 2006.
