Alcazaba and Walls of San Cristobal Hill
The Alcazaba and Walls of the Cerro de San Cristóbal in the Spanish city of Almería is one of the most important Arab monumental and archaeological sites in the Iberian Peninsula. Its almost thousand years of history has allowed us to know the evolution experienced in civil and military architecture during the Arab domination in Al-Andalus, due to its construction in different phases and epochs, as well as the origin and evolution of the city.
Located on an isolated hill, the Alcazaba is a solid and extensive fortress with walls more than three meters wide and five meters high, forming a closed enclosure on itself, but connected with the canvases of the Wall that configure and make sense of its own development, within a more complex unit, such as the fortification of the city, in which the ravine of La Hoya and the hill of San Cristóbal maintains a direct connection with the Alcazaba, both physical and visual, creating a set of extraordinary magnitude. The Alcazaba is to the south connected to the city, and to the north the Cerro de San Cristóbal, which ends up defining a unique space, of undoubted cultural interest.
In 2010, the National Mint and Doorbell Factory - Royal Mint of Spain, as part of the "Province and Autonomous Cities Capital Program" coined an image of this monument in the 5 Euro coin corresponding to Almeria.

New Almeria
Nueva Almería is a neighborhood in the Spanish city of Almería (Andalusia). It is a newly created neighborhood in the easternmost part of the city. It extends along the beach from the avenue of the Mediterranean, former location of the fairgrounds in August, and the Maestro Padilla Auditorium to the immediate vicinity of the mouth of the Andarax River. This emerged as a neighborhood of small single-family houses with some small gardens around the old Thermal, colloquial name given to a thermal power plant of the Seville Electricity Company located at the edge of the beach with a very high chimney that could be seen from many kilometers away and next to an old hotel of 13 heights that later became a residence for the elderly (nowadays demolished), so that the beach of the area is known as the old or the elderly. In recent years the area has been revalued with the urban restructuring resulting from the demolition of the old thermal power plant and the reconditioning of the promenade in addition to the beginnings of the new avenue of the Vega de Acá that promises to be one of the roads that improve the city communication to the eastern part of the province.
