Sliding Square

The Plaza de la Corredera is one of the most emblematic places in the Spanish city of Córdoba. This space, the only quadrangular main square in Andalusia, is located in the center of the city. It has its entrance and exit through the so-called High Arch and Low Arch.
Among the buildings that shape the square, the Sánchez Peña Market or the Doña Ana Jacinto Houses stands out. The current Sánchez Peña market served as a town hall as well as a prison, until in the 19th century, 1846, the businessman from Córdoba, José Sánchez Peña, bought the building and installed the most modern industry in Córdoba with steam engines to create a factory of hats, installing the workers in the upper part of the building where they had their homes.
The space occupied by the square has been deeply remodeled over time. The square has been used for different purposes, mainly holidays, such as bullfights from which the current name of the square derives.
On December 18, 1981, it was declared of Cultural Interest.

Tower of Santo Domingo de Silos (Córdoba)

The tower of Santo Domingo de Silos, located in the Plaza de la Compañía in the historic center of Córdoba, is practically the only remnant that remains of the church of the same name, founded by Fernando III after the conquest of the city and a of the fourteen parishes that the monarch established in Córdoba. Its current configuration is the result of the works carried out by Francisco Vázquez, which took place around the years 1762 or 1763.
From that same building the Conception Chapel has also been conserved, currently integrated in the Provincial Historical Archive of Córdoba. The set constituting an exponent, at least visual, of a Córdoba now disappeared. Subsequently, in the Baroque, the Tower undergoes transformations, dating from that time the image and current appearance.
The tower of Santo Domingo de Silos has been declared of cultural interest in the category of monument since 2001.

Potro Square

The Plaza del Potro is one of the most representative of the city of Córdoba (Spain), located in the San Francisco-Ribera neighborhood.
In the center of it is the Fountain of the Foal whose auction is the figure of a foal that raises his hands holding a sign with the shield of the city. This Renaissance style fountain dates from 1577, and the colt with which it is topped gives its name to the square. In the Golden Age it was a meeting place for rogues and thugs in the city. Until 1847 it was located on the opposite side of the square it occupies today.
The famous Posada del Potro is also located in this square, cited by Cervantes in El Quijote and by Pío Baroja in The Discrete Fair, in addition to the local Museum of Fine Arts and the Julio Romero de Torres Museum.
