Esplugas de Llobregat or Esplugas (in Catalan and officially since 1976, Esplugues de Llobregat) is a municipality in Spain belonging to the province of Barcelona, ​​in the autonomous community of Catalonia. Since 1990 it is part of the region of Bajo Llobregat (previously belonged to that of the Barcelonés).
In recent decades it has gone from being an eminently industrial population to a city of services, very close to Barcelona and which has managed to preserve its identity.
Especially noteworthy is its unique old town, unique in Bajo Llobregat with spaces as picturesque and romantic as Montserrat Street or farmhouses such as Can Cortada, building where the Baron de Maldá resided, author of the key work in Catalan literature of the late eighteenth century , the Calaix de Sastre. It is also worth mentioning the extensive network of parks and green areas of Esplugas such as the Solidaridad park, the Torrent d'en Farré park or the Can Vidalet park, among others. The mountain of San Pedro Mártir, belonging to the Collserola mountain range, is the natural viewpoint of the municipality thanks to its 399 meters of altitude.
The presence of the German School of Barcelona and the American School of Barcelona in the municipality attracts families of wealthy immigrants who choose to educate their children in these centers. In addition, given its proximity to Camp Nou, in Esplugas there are also numerous soccer players of the Barcelona Football Club.

Pont d'Esplugues is a station on the T1, T2 and T3 lines of the Trambaix. It is located on Cornellá Avenue in Esplugas de Llobregat. This station opened on April 3, 2004.
The extension of line 3 of the Barcelona metro is currently under study-construction phase, where it will stop at this station. The future metro station will be called Esplugues Center, will be 30 meters deep and will be built "between screens". It will be located in the Town Hall Square (Santa Magdalena Square), under Laureà Miró Street. The station will have two accesses and will be equipped with escalators and elevators.

The Can Vidalet park is one of the green spaces that Esplugas de Llobregat has. It is located in a densely populated area: the Can Vidalet neighborhood that gives it its name has about 15,000 inhabitants of the almost 50,000 of Esplugas, and the adjacent neighborhood of Pubilla Casas de Hospitalet de Llobregat has just under 30,000 inhabitants .
