San Lorenzo beach is located in the center of Gijón. With a length of 1550 meters and shell shape, it is one of the most emblematic beaches of the Principality of Asturias. It extends from stairs 0 ("La Cantábrica"), located behind the Church of San Pedro, to stairs number 16 (area popularly known as "el Tostaderu"), at the mouth of the Piles River. However, a rocky area extends for three hundred meters to the "Mayan of Earth", reaching a total length of about 1.8 km. The collection also has locomotives of the Northern Railways, Basque Asturian and many mining lines and industries. It also retains passenger cars, wagons, trams and other objects and supplies linked to trains and railways.

Real Instituto Jovellanos is the name of one of the oldest middle school education centers in Spain. It was created in Gijón by Gaspar Melchor de Jovellanos; as one of the illustrated projects he carried out in the Principality of Asturias.
