Girona

Girona (in Catalan and officially Girona, AFI: [ʒiˈɾonə]) is a Spanish city and municipality, capital of the homonymous province and of the Gironés region, in the autonomous community of Catalonia. It belongs to the Girona region (Comarques Gironines) and the urban system of Girona, according to the General Territorial Plan of Catalonia. The city is crossed by the Ter, Güell, Galligants and Oñar rivers, at an altitude of 75 m above sea level. Its municipal limit limits to the north with San Julián de Ramis and Sarriá de Ter, to the east with Celrá, to the southeast with Juyá and Quart, to the southwest with Fornells de la Selva, Vilablareix and Salt, and to the west with San Gregorio. The municipality, center of the urban area of ​​Gerona, has a population of 100 266 inhabitants (INE 2017).
Its historic center or Barri Vell is delimited in the east by the so-called Paseo de la Muralla, the round road of the ancient Carolingian walls (9th century) and the Middle Ages (14th and 15th centuries). Among its monuments are the Call, an old Jewish quarter, one of the best preserved in Spain; as well as the colorful Casas del Oñar, built on the banks of the river and very close to the cathedral, with the widest nave in the world in Gothic style.
In 2016, the city was awarded the Europe Prize, a distinction awarded annually by the Council of Europe, since 1955, to those municipalities that have made remarkable efforts to promote the ideal of European unity. It was the second Spanish city to obtain the award, after Santiago de Compostela.

Museum of Archeology of Catalonia (Girona)

The Museum of Archeology of Catalonia in Girona is a museum of Catalonia that was installed in 1857 in the monastery of San Pedro de Galligans, where it is still located today. The spaces included for its installation are the church and the cloister to which a superior gallery was added in the 19th century. It is a cloister that preserves its primitive structure with the columns and capitals that make up a remarkable sample of Catalan Romanesque. Monastery of San Daniel de Gerona

The monastery of San Daniel (in Catalan monestir de Sant Daniel) is a monastery of Benedictine nuns whose history dates back to the Middle Ages. University of Girona

The University of Girona (UdG), in Catalan and officially the University of Girona, is a public university located in Girona, Catalonia (Spain). It was recognized as a university in 1997, the result of the merger of various university study centers in Girona attached to other universities, although its origins date back to the General Survey, an entity created in 1446 by Alfonso the Magnanimous. The university is made up of five campuses — the most important, the one in Montilivi and the one in the old town — apart from the Science and Technology Park. In 2009 it hosted 12,977 students and had 1,200 teachers.

Girona station

Girona (in Catalan and according to Adif Girona) is a railway station located in the Spanish city of Girona. It was inaugurated in 1973 replacing the historic city station opened in 1862. In 2010 it was used by more than 2.5 million passengers.
It has Long and Medium Distance services operated mainly by Renfe that cover both national and international destinations.
The station, owned by Adif, is located west of the city center in the Plaza de España in front of the bus station. It has two floors, one low and one high that gives access to the railway viaduct where the tracks and platforms are located.

Church of San Félix (Girona)

The church of San Félix or Sant Feliu is a basilica located in the Spanish city of Gerona, originally from the early days of Christianity. It houses the offices of the Parish Church of Sant Feliu of the Bishopric of Girona, named for this because it was the main temple of Girona before the construction of the cathedral. Its construction, in honor of the martyr Saint Felix, was extended from the twelfth century to the seventeenth and retains much of the Romanesque building, later completed with ships and gothic roofs and the baroque facade. The main attraction consists of eight extraordinary Roman and Paleochristian sarcophagi of the third and fourth centuries, found when the church was built, along with the gothic sepulcher of San Narciso.
