Church of Santa María de la Asunción (Laredo)

The church of Santa María de la Asunción, is a religious temple of Catholic worship under the invocation of the Virgin of the Assumption of the town of Laredo, autonomous community of Cantabria, in Spain.
Currently, it is considered as BIC (Cultural Interest Asset), and was declared a historical-artistic monument belonging to the National Artistic Treasury by decree of June 3, 1931
In 1952 the carving of the Virgin of La Soledad, in walnut wood and with beautiful realistic features, was sculpted by the sculptor from Santander, resident in Laredo, Francisco Velasco Torre.

The judicial party of Laredo is one of eight in which the autonomous community of Cantabria is divided, created in 1988 by Law 38/1988, of December 28, on Demarcation and Judicial Plant, as number two , both of the seven in which Cantabria was initially divided, and later with the creation of the eighth judicial party.
