The Ski and Mountain Station of Sierra Nevada is located in the Sierra Nevada National Park, in the Penibético System, in the municipal terms of Monachil and Dílar (judicial party and province of Granada, Spain). It was known during its early years as Solynieve Ski Resort, a name already in disuse.
The station hosted the 1996 Alpine Skiing World Championship, as well as several tests of the Alpine Skiing World Cup, whose competition hosted its first final in 1977. In addition, it has been nominated as the main venue for the Games Winter Olympics
The International Federation of University Sports (FISU) has entrusted to this station of Sierra Nevada the celebration of the Winter Universiade Granada 2015 - although, in the cross-country ski tracks of the Port of La Ragua some tests will also take place, as well in the capital of Granada itself. This happens to the Slovenian Maribor station, which is in charge of 2013, collecting the witness of the Turkish station of Erzurum, which has celebrated it in 2012.
In May 2012, Sierra Nevada has been designated the headquarters of the FIS Snowboard and Freestyle World Championships 2017 by the council of the International Ski Federation (FIS), the world's leading winter sports organization, during the congress held in Kangwonland (South Korea). Sierra Nevada will succeed in organizing these championships to the Canadian station of Quebec 2013 (Snowboard) and the Norwegian Voss 2013 (Freestyle), and to Kreischberg (Austria) which in 2015 will be the first center Winter that will celebrate the World Snowboard and Freestyle World Cups.
In March 2013, Sierra Nevada organized the final of the Snowboard and Freestyle World Cup 2013.

Pradollano (or officially Sierra Nevada) is a Spanish town and district belonging to the municipality of Monachil, in the province of Granada. It is located in the southeast part of the Vega de Granada region. Near this town are the nuclei of Canales, Pinos Genil and Güéjar Sierra. With its 2,078 meters above sea level, it is the population center located at a higher altitude in all of Spain.
Pradollano is the only inhabited nucleus of the Sierra Nevada Ski Resort, and where all the main services of this station are located. It has 4,500 hotel beds and receives 14,000 visitors a day.

The Lodge is a 5 star hotel located in the Granada town of Monachil, Spain. Located in Sierra Nevada, in the Sierra Nevada National Park, about 30 km from Granada. It was burned by a fire in January 2014 without regretting personal injury and was later rebuilt and reopened in December 2015. The new building is built almost entirely with Finnish larch wood, its interior was designed by British interior designer Andrew Martin. [ 1]
