Villaviciosa is a council of the autonomous community of the Principality of Asturias (Spain), a parish of said council and a town, capital of the council, belonging to this parish. The council limits to the north with the Cantabrian Sea, to the south with the councils of Sariego, Nava, Cabranes and Piloña, to the west with those of Gijón and Siero and to the east with that of Colunga.
It is known for the quality of its cider and for the abundance in pumaraes (name with which the apple groves are known in Asturias). The council is twinned with Villaviciosa de Odón, Madrid. Its estuary is the largest in Asturias. There is an important fishing port in Bowls. In 2017 one of its villages, Poreñu, was awarded the 2017 Exemplary People of Asturias Award.
