Basilica of Santa Engracia (Zaragoza)

The minor basilica of Santa Engracia in the city of Zaragoza, better known as the basilica of Santa Engracia, is a Catholic temple in the city of Zaragoza (Spain).
Its origin is in a Christian chapel of the III-IV century where the remains of Santa Engracia and other martyrs from Zaragoza were worshiped. From this period two paleochristian sarcophagi carried out by Roman workshops of the first half of the fourth century are preserved in the crypt of the church: that of the Receptio animae (restored in 1998) and that of the Petrine Trilogy (restored in 1991).
This place of Christian worship remained as a church during the Visigothic period. In her Eugenio de Toledo studied under the teaching of San Braulio. During the Islamic domination, it was the center of a neighborhood of Mozarabic population.
In the second half of the fifteenth century, Juan II de Aragón wanted to promote a monastery in gratitude to Santa Engracia after his cure for a disease of cataracts, but the construction of the same was not undertaken until the reign of Fernando the Catholic. The Plateresque monastery was in a state of ruin and was completely demolished after the Zaragoza Sites, although the Renaissance cover of the church was saved from destruction, a work conceived and carried out until 1514 by Gil Morlanes the Elder, and finished off by his son Gil Morlanes the Younger.
Also in the Santa Engracia basilica church is the Santa Engracia Scout Group 649.

The museum was inaugurated in 1979 by the widow of the Aragonese scholar, María Luisa Álvarez Pinillos and is located in the Renaissance Palace of the Pardo within the historic center of Zaragoza. It consists of several rooms distributed over three floors.
The Social Work of Ibercaja is responsible for managing the institution. Caesaraugusta Theater Museum

The Cesaraugusta Theater Museum is a space that shows the ruins of the ancient Roman theater in Zaragoza (Spain) as well as various archaeological remains and models of that period. It is located on Calle San Jorge, nº 12. A part of its facilities occupies lots corresponding to important houses of medieval, Renaissance and Baroque times; The monumental and exhibition complex is, on the other hand, nestled in the grounds of the former Jewish quarter of Zaragoza: for these reasons, the Museum also takes advantage of the integration, in a joint vision, of interesting remains and samples of Zaragoza's history through the times mentioned above.

The Roman theater of Caesaraugusta dates from the 1st century AD. C. and with its 7,000 square meters and 6,000 spectators, it is considered one of the largest in Roman Hispania. Its ruins were discovered in 1972 thanks to a neighbor who warned the local newspaper of the existence of archeological remains among the works of a construction.
After several years of restoration and 12 million euros of investment, the opening of the museum took place in 2003. Currently, through some walkways visitors can see the remains of the stands and the stage that have been protected by a large translucent polycarbonate cover. Along with the archaeological remains, a building has been rehabilitated, to house the Interpretation Center in which the visitor is introduced to the history of the theater and the dramatic genres, social and political life of the time.

House of the Morlanes

The house of the Morlanes in the square of San Carlos de Zaragoza (Aragon, Spain) is a 16th-century building whose author and its first owner are unknown. Both M. de la Sala Valdés and J. Camón Aznar have pointed out the possibility that he belonged to the Morlanes, a family of distinguished jurists and artists who owned several houses in this area, although this data has not yet been documented. It could be built by one of them, Gil Morlanes the Elder-
The only confirmed fact is that the plaster decoration of its main façade was completed in 1555. This facade, made of brick on a ashlar plinth, is the only thing left of the original construction, since the interior of the building has been totally renovated.
The facade is divided into three floors. The ground floor has an open entrance in a semicircular arch, which preserves the stone jambs, and four spaced and trellised openings. The noble floor has bays adintelados and flanked by stipe that support semicircular and triangular pediments. Finally, the upper floor presents a classic gallery of folded half-point arches, with oculos on the sills and sills, which is topped by a flying eave.
The decoration is centered around the openings of the noble floor, where various vegetal and figurative motifs are observed (grutescos, garlands, angels, etc.), which according to some authors, such as Santiago Sebastián, would enclose a thoughtful humanistic iconographic program , which would qualify the palace as royal abode.

Fuenclara Palace

The Fuenclara Palace in Zaragoza (Spain) was built in the second half of the 16th century on behalf of Don Antonio Agustín, father of the archbishop of Tarragona and eminent canonist, transformed in the 17th century by his new tenants, the Counts of Fuenclara.
It is an exempt building that originally consisted of three floors, although it currently has one more floor.
In any case, and despite the profound modifications made in the interior space, it continues to articulate around a central courtyard with a monumental staircase to access the rest of the floors. The patio has four Tuscan columns on base and plinth, which support shoes for the wooden floor that closes the bays. The lower part of the patio is decorated with a Muel ceramic trench.
The main facade, which faces Fuenclara Street, has also undergone some transformations. The ground floor today presents commercial premises that hide the primitive access in a semicircular arch, the noble floor is currently divided in two and opened by gutted openings and the last one shows a series of gilded windows that replaces the original Aragonese gallery of semicircular arches. It is made entirely of brick and ends with a powerful eave.
