Le Mans Cathedral

The cathedral of Saint-Julien de Le Mans, officially, in French, cathedral Saint-Julien du Mans, is a religious building located in the city of Le Mans. It is the symbol of the diocese and seat of the bishop of the city. It is one of the largest buildings of the Gothic-Romanesque era of France, unique in the French West.
Although it is comparable to the cathedrals of Reims or Chartres it is less known than these and there have been multiple reconstructions and reforms of which it has been subject after its foundation. Bishop Vulgrin began its construction in the year 1060, and it was finished, as it is today, in the year 1430. Although it cannot be said that it is completely finished since it had to have been enlarged in 1500, but the lack of The media prevented this extension from being carried out to what the religious authorities of the time had to resign themselves. Very damaged, over the years, by automobile pollution and covered by a layer of debris, the cathedral was completely renovated in 2003. In it the tombs of Saint-Julien and Carlos d'Anjou are preserved.
