Fondation Louis Vuitton
The Fondation Louis Vuitton, formerly called Fondation d'entreprise Louis Vuitton pour la création, is a museum built by the LVMH group that aims to promote art and culture and support patronage actions undertaken since 1990 by the group. It is managed as a separate non-profit entity as part of the promotion of art and culture carried out by LVMH.
The building, designed by architect Frank Gehry, is located in the Boulogne Forest Acclimatization Garden, in the 16th arrondissement of Paris. This project, which wanted to be a response to the Pinault foundation installed in Venice, is the media expression of competition between Bernard Arnault, the most important luxury businessman in the world, and his rival François Pinault.
The inauguration of the building took place on October 27, 2014, once its construction was completed, which officially cost 143 million dollars. Before the official inauguration, it was the scene of the women's fashion show Spring / Summer 2015 by Louis Vuitton.
