Rouen Museum of Fine Arts
The Rouen Museum of Fine Arts is an art museum in the heart of the French city of Rouen. Its building was renovated and completed in 1994. The art of the 18th and 19th centuries is especially well represented. Its current director is Laurent Salomé.
It brings together a collection of paintings, sculptures, drawings and art objects from the 15th century to the present day, including a rare collection of Russian icons from the 16th to the 19th centuries (early).
The museum also has an exceptional group of paintings from the donation of François Depeaux (1909), who place it at the forefront of the provincial museums of France with impressionist works.
The Drawing Cabinet has more than 8,000 pieces from the Renaissance to the 20th century. The museum also hosts temporary exhibitions, as well as some contemporary art exhibitions. Permanent collections are exhibited in 60 rooms. In 2007, the acquisition budget amounts to 150,000 euros per year. The museum receives some funds from patronage. In 2006, the museum presented eight exhibitions, including "Masterpieces of the Museums of Florence", which has increased the number of visitors from 87,000 to 154,000.
