Ilfracombe is a spa and civil parish located on the coast of North Devon, England, with a small harbor surrounded by cliffs.
The parish extends along the coast from the 'Coastguard Cottages' in Hele Bay to the east and 4 miles along Torrs to Lee Bay to the west. The complex is mountainous and the highest point within the parish boundary is at 'Hore Down Gate', 2 miles inland and 860 feet (270 m) above sea level.
The Hillsborough Hill landmark dominates the harbor and is the site of a fortified Iron Age settlement. In the built environment, the Landmark Theater, awarded an architectural award, is loved or hated for its unusual double conical design. The 13th-century parish church, Holy Trinity, and the chapel of St. Nicholas (a lighthouse) on Lantern Hill, have joined the statue owned by Damien Hirst, Verity, as points of interest.
