Portree (in Scottish Gaelic Port Rìgh pronounced [pʰɔrˠʃtˈ̪ɾiː]) is the largest city of Skye in the Inner Hebrides of Scotland (United Kingdom). There are four ways to reach Portree: by the Skye Bridge; the ferry from Mallaig to Armadale; the (seasonal) ferry from Kylerhea; and from the Outer Hebrides to Uig. It is the place where the only high school on the island, Portree High school. Public transport is limited to buses.
Portree has a port, framed by cliffs, with a pier designed by Thomas Telford.
Among the city's attractions are the Aros Center that celebrates the Gaelic heritage of the island. The city also serves as a center for tourists exploring the island.
The Royal Hotel is the place where the MacNab's Inn is, the last meeting place between Flora MacDonald and the Beautiful Prince Charles in 1746.
The city houses the shinty club of the Isle of Skye, Skye Camanachd.
