The monument, by Gerard Johnson, is located on the north wall of the main chapel. It has a partial figure of the poet, who holds a pen in one hand and keeps a piece of paper that rests on a cushion with the other. The style was most commonly used for theologians, academics and professions with learning pretensions. The monument is covered with ornaments like a heraldic shield that contains the coat of arms of the Shakespeare family, on each side of which is an allegorical figure: one represents the work, has a sword, the other, representing the rest , has an inverted torch and a skull.
