Genoa (in Italian, Genova, pronounced [dʒɛːnova]; Zena in the Genoese dialect of the Ligurian language) is the sixth Italian city and the third in Northern Italy by population, as it has 609,746 inhabitants and the fourth city by economic movement . The Genoa aquarium (in Italian: Acquario di Genova) is the largest aquarium in Italy and the second in the European Union, after the one in Valencia. It was built for the 1992 Expo.
It is located in Ponte Spinola, in the old port (16th century) of the city.
