Municipal Stadium of Portimão
The Municipal Stadium of Portimão is a football stadium located in the center of the city of Portimão in the Algarve, Portugal. The enclosure was inaugurated in 1937 and has a capacity of 9544 people, it is the current stadium of Portimonense SC of the Primeira Liga .
In 2006, Portimonense was forced to play outside the Municipal Stadium in the Algarve Stadium in the city of Faro, built for Euro 2004, located 70 kilometers from Portimão. In February 2007, however, Portimonense returned home and the City Council of Portimão bought the site five months later. This allowed the necessary renovations for the accommodation of the top-level competition: the installation of green seats (in the colors of the city), the new turnstiles and safety facilities.
In the 2009-10 season, Portimonense won the Premier League promotion for the following season. The summer of 2010 was a time of renovation of the stadium, since modifications were introduced in the launch and drainage system, as well as in the west post, with which the capacity reached 9544 at a cost of 800 000 euros. Construction took longer than expected and the club had to wait until the end of the year before they could use their stadium again. The club's first home league game at the renovated stadium was on February 6, 2011 against Paços de Ferreira, who emerged victorious with the only goal of the match.
