Fornells is a locality and Spanish district belonging to the municipality of Mercadal, in the north of the island of Menorca, autonomous community of the Balearic Islands. It is located in the bay of the same name.
During the first decade of the 21st century, a platform was created that sought the segregation of Fornells and the constitution as an independent municipality. The application was rejected both by the Insular Council of Menorca and by the Superior Court of Justice of the Balearic Islands.

Fornells Tower
The Tower of Fornells is one of the many defense towers that surround the coast of Menorca. That of Fornells was built between 1801 and 1802, in the last period of British domination, with the aim of monitoring the entrance of the port of Fornells, preventing the landing of enemy ships and protecting the Castle of San Antonio.

The Castle of San Antonio (Castell de Sant Antoni in Catalan) is a fortress located in the Spanish town of Fornells, in the municipality of Mercadal, in Menorca. It was built in the seventeenth century in the port of the town, and thanks to this construction the population was born.
Only a few remains of the structure remain, as it was dismantled by the Spaniards after British domination, just like San Felipe Castle. Nearby is the Tower of Fornells; defensive tower whose object was to protect the castle from enemy attacks.
Hermitage of Lourdes
The hermitage of Lourdes or Hermitage of the Mother of God of Lourdes, in menorquín Hermitage of the Mare de Déu de Lourdes, is a small hermitage located in the Menorcan town of Fornells, belonging to the municipality of Mercadal.
The hermitage takes advantage of a small natural cave.
It is located at the north end of the town, on a road that starts from the parking lot that is located at the end of Tramontana Street, in Menorca Carrer de la Tramuntana, and ascends in a westerly direction to head towards the Fornells Tower.
