Torremolinos is a Spanish municipality located in the province of Málaga, on the Mediterranean coast of the autonomous community of Andalucía. It is the head of the homonymous judicial party and is integrated in the region of the Costa del Sol Occidental, the commonwealth of municipalities of the same name and the metropolitan area of Malaga.
It is located on the Costa del Sol, on the western shore of the bay of Malaga and behind the Sierra de Mijas. It is located at an altitude of 49 meters above sea level and 13 km from the center of Malaga, the provincial capital. It is connected by the A-7 motorway, which circles the city on the north, as well as by suburban train.
In 2010 it had 66,957 inhabitants, which make it the sixth most populous municipality in the province, in 2014 Torremolinos had 67,353 inhabitants and in 2015 it had 67,492 inhabitants of which 14,215 was a foreign population. The Molinos tower or Torre de los Molinos is a defense tower located in the municipality of Torremolinos, in the province of Malaga, Andalusia, Spain.
The Molinos tower was built by the Nasrids around 1300, being one of the pieces of the chain of defensive towers that were erected along the coast of the former Kingdom of Granada.
